Answered by: vivthebestone on: Jun 30th, 2010

since loss=cp-sp
let c.p. =x
loss=x-400.......(i)
120loss/100=x-380........(ii)
solving two equations gives
loss=100
therefore
from (i)
x=400+100=500

Let x be the loss and CP the cost price .

CP-SP =X
CP=400+X;

X*120/100=1.2X;
CP=1.2X+380;
0.2X=20
X=100;

CP=500
