.
. . x/40+x/30=8
x=137.1 m
so ans is b.

Answered by: rajendraprasad349 on: Aug 27th, 2010

Let distance = 'd'

Let us assume forward journey time is 't1'

Return journey time is 't2'

Given t1+t2=8

But time = distance / velocity

t1 = d/40

t2 = d/30

Therefore t1+t2 = d/40 + d/30 = 8

d=137.142

x+2y+4z=22

5x+4y+2z=32
add bth d eq. we get

6x+6y+6z=54

so 3x+3y+3z=27

Answered by: pranoti on: Jan 30th, 2011

Let cost of 1 pencil, 1 pen and 1 eraser be x,y,z.

now, x+2y+4z=22 - (1)

5x+4y+2z=32 - (2)

subtracting (2)-(1);

4x+2y-2z=10 or 2x+y-z=5 -(3)

subtracting (2)-(3);

3x+3y+3z=27

Answer=Rs27

Each of the preceding number is multipied by the previous number

So on multiplying 2*2 = 4
4*2 = 8
8*4 = 32
32*8 = 256
256*32 = 8192
so the answer for this series is 8192
