hence  x = 6000/40

let us consider  x is the maximumber number of marks.

secured marks => 40% of x= 40/100 of x=2x/5

To pass an exam he has to score =fail marks+20

=40+20=60

2x/5=60

x=150

maximum marks for paper I is =150
