Benchmarking can lead to improved customer satisfaction, but the act of benchmarking does not improve customer satisfaction.  Benchmarking is the process of comparing your own business processes and performance metrics against those of another company who have set the industry standard for "best practices".  The only way to improve customer satisfaction would be to successfully implement what you've learned.
