RE: diff b/w metric and measurement?
Metric is a type of measurement. Measurement can be metric (example: metre kilometre/hour kilogramme litre e.t.) and non-metric (example: inch miles/hour pint pound e.t.)

RE: diff b/w metric and measurement?

A metric is a derived (calculated or composite) unit of measurement that cannot be directlyobserved but is created by combining or relating two or more measures. A metric normalizes data so that comparison is possible.

Measurement is one which quanitfies an activity or characteristic of an object.

Example: One person produced 20 pieces is a measurement. That person worked 8 hours is a measurement. That employee produced 20 pieces in 8 hours is a metric.

Hi

The above comment is good.

Software metric is a well-defined measurement of a software system or a software process.

RE: diff b/w metric and measurement?
Yes. All the above given definitions looks gud.Let us speak in QA terminology. I have delivered (2KLOC of Code) in (45Person Days) with (100 Review Effectiveness) and (100 Test Coverage). The complete sentence above is a METRIC. All the sub sections mentioned in brackets are MEASEUREMENTs.

Hope this gives better picture.
