3) A can do a piece of work in 20 days, which B can do in 12 days. In 9 days B does � of the work. How many days will A take to finish the remaining work?

4) If 20 men take 15 days to complete a job, in how many days can 25 men finish that work?

5) One fast typist type some matter in 2hr and another slow typist type the same matter in 3hr. if both do combine in how much time they will finish.

6) The ratio of incomes of C and D is 3:4.the ratio of their expenditures is 4:5.Find the ratio of their savings if the savings of C is one fourths of his income?

The formula is p(a union b)=p(a)+p(b)-p(a intersect b)
so, according to our problem p(a union b )=40  p(a)=30;  p(b)=20;
so, we have to find p(a intersect b), so=30+20-40 =10

by formula p(a n b)=p(a)+p(b)-p(a n b)

so, according to our problem p(a union b )=40  p(a)=30;  p(b)=20;

Here n(AUB)=40
n(A)=30
n(B)=20

we know
n(AUB)=n(A)+n(B)-n(A INTERSECTION B)
=>40=30+20-n(A INTERSECTION B)
=>n(A INTERSECTION B)=10
so 10 speak both the language

Let income of C & D be 3x & 4x
respectively
and expenditure 4t & 5t respectively
Now the given that 4t-3x=3x/4 =>t=15x/16
Now we have to calculate (4t-3x)/(5t-4x){the savings ratio}
Now putting the value of t we will get 12:11.
