No of questions answered correctly=12
Total marks =12×5=60
But scores is 24
So sub 60-24=36
If we divide this 36 /2 ie no of questions wrong =18

No. of correct answers = 12
There is 5 marks allotted for each correct answer
12×5=60
If he gets only 24 marks in total, then 24 is to be subtracted from 60
60-24=36 which is the all total no. of incorrect deducted marks
2 marks are allotted for each incorrect answer
36/2=18 answers were wrong.

Each correct carry 5 marks, and wrong carries -2 marks.
Number of question with correct answer = x
Number of questions is wrong = y
Total score in the exam = 5*x-2*y =r
As per data, x=12, y=?, r=24
5*12-2*y=24
y=18
