The bug, which is unobserved in two or more releases is called as latent bug

Often bugs disapppear on their own.  If they can not be reproduced on the current build, it could be because the offending code has been rewritten because of other changes, or it could mean that the offending code is causing the problem elsewhere.  In my experience, these issues are not often investigated.  Unless it is serious, these latent defects are allowed to remain in the code.

A latent bug is a defect that had not been fixed but has mysteriously disappeared and has gone unobserved over the past two or more test releases.  The defect report associated with this bug will remain open and assigned until the end of the project, whereupon it will likely be discussed at length and finally closed in the final project triage.
