Restart Checkpoint Logic

How and why to use restart checkpoint logic. I am not able to understand the concept of checkpoint restart logic. please anyone explained it to me.

Check point, we have a check point for each run. or example if we are running some 100 data to be processed and we our job failed. Here in the check point we would have kept a check or every 10, so if it has failed as 50th data we can see the check point and we can restart the job. This will helps us to restart the job
