I am answering few of them.................

1)How much current can a 3-1/2 core 100 mm wire carry?

- It depends on "what conductor(aluminium, copper or else) you are using" and "whether it is insulated or not" and "it is single cored or multicolored". So, question should be more specific..............
-One case i can put for u, 3.5mm DIA, 100 mm square AREA, COPPER wire, Single core with INSULATION by PVC will carry appx. 200 amp current.

2)What is the latest generation of circuit breakers called?
-SION vacuum CB

3)What are the special cables required for explosion proof wiring?
-don't know

4)What are the different types of soft starters for large motors?
-Soft starting simply means, Way of starting of motor so that it won't feel heavy torque or current in starting so that chances of damage and mechanical imbalance can be minimized
So, Types can be- Mechanical and electrical
Mechanical-clutch and gear system to low load at starting and high load at running
Electrical-1. solid state device to control current
2. Thyristor control device for voltage control
3. Auto transformer starting
