When intermediary devices only direct data flow and do not generate or change data content, how can they regenerate data signals ? If they do so, which is the intermediary device that can regenerate data signals ?

Basically when our signal is weak (on a network) then we should have a repeater device. This device used to regenerate the weak signal.
