What is Blue Dump?

Blue dump error occurs when the kernel detects an error from which it cannot recover. The system halts and the diagnosis is done via blue screen. The only thing the user can do to recover from these type of errors is to restart the system , which may not completely solve the problem i.e. it can again go to blue screen.
Possible causes of Blue dump error or "Blue screen of Death " are:
software errors
hardware errors
intermittent error(like HDD crash or overheat etc)
