The size of concrete cube is 150mm x 150mm x 150mm as per Indian Standards. Why?

A smaller size would be insufficient for all regular coarse aggregate sizes conventionally applied!

According to British Standard (BS) 1881:1983
100 mm cubes can take up to 20mm CA and 150mm cubes can accommodate up to 40mm CA!

The practical result of checking strength of concrete at 7 days & 28 days depends on the cube size 150x150x150, if we change the dimension, the checking days will change.
