he ate 8 bananas on the first day. its simple mathematical logic...which we have been taught in SAT or every other entrance exams.

let us consider the bananas he ate of the 1st day be x
so
x+(x+6)+(x+12)+(x+18)+(x+24)=100
so by solving the above we get
x=8

Every day 6 more bananas means Extra bananas=6+12+18+24=60
he eat =40/5=8(First day)
ANS=8

5X+60=100
5x=40
x=8

x=banana per day

for five corresponding days
x+x+6+x+12+x+18+x+24=100
5x+60=100
5x=40
x=8
first day=8
second day=x+6=8+6=14
third day=20
fourth day=26
fifth day=32
