rational robot and RFT are the two different test automation tools from IBM
depend on the project you have to choose the right tool

to mention few diff

1. Robot uses SQABasic as scripting language and RFT uses VB .NET or java as scripting languages

2. Robot is having its own IDE. RFT uses ecelipse or Microsoft .NET IDE

3. Robot object recognition is string based. RFT uses object map

  in short if you want to compare robot and RFT compare as if you are comparing robot and any other test automation tool (Say QTP)
