test strategy means an approach to be followed by test engineer, this is prepared by project manager . Depending on this the test lead will prepare test plan and will submit that test plan to the test engineer,so that they will prepare test design

Hi,

Generally every project functional & testing process starts with the test initiation by Project Manager/QA.

Test strtegy:It is a document which is prepared by PM/QA. It defines testing approach to be followed by a testing team for that project testing.

Test Plan: After completion of test strategy document preparation, test lead can go to prepare the test plan document to implement that test strategy.

Test Design: After completion of test plan document preparation, test engineer can go to prepare the test cases for responsible modules and for responsible testing techniques w.r.t test plan.

thanks in advance

Bharathi

Hi Bharathi,When you say its an approach to testing, will i be right if i say its a kind of guidelines that should be followed by the team to test each build? Also, I think a stratergy should be a part of a planning process and need not be the same always??Anyone.. any comments on this?Regards,Surya

Test Strategy will give the full insight of the counter part that how will be the testing carried out, viz, for preparation of test data we will use boundary, equivalence partitioning, and we will be using this % of white box and this % of black box. Test strategy is a subset of test plan.Test strategy talks about the overall approach towards testing

A test strategy describes the general approach to testing in terms of people, tools, procedures and support.  It is used to gain feedback from key stakeholders as early as possible in the software development life cycle.  The insight gained from developing a test strategy is used to create a more comprehensive test plan.

A test plan is a document that describes the scope, approach, resources, and schedule of intended testing activities.
