Ram Singh goes to his office in the city, every day from his suburban house. His driverGangaram drops him at the railway station in the morning and picks him up in the evening.Every evening Ram Singh reaches the station at 5 O' Clock. Gangaram also reaches at thesame time. One day Ram Singh started early from his office and came to the station at 4 O'Clock. Not wanting to wait for the car he starts walking home. Mangaram starts at normaltime, picks him up on the way and takes him back house, half an hour early. How much timedid Ram Singh walk?

Ans: Given Ram reaches the station at 4.00.  By the time he called up his home

driver already left  this implies that the station must be 1hour driving time from

station. So totally  it takes 2hr for to-and-fro journey. They both reached home half-

an-hour earlier this means they took only 1 1/2 hour to reach home............. from

this driver must have saved 15min in his onward journey and another 15min in his

backward journey. So driver drove for 45min(60-15=45) b4 he met Ram  ===> that

Ram also walked for 45min.

I also think the answer is 45 mins. but saying
"By the time he called up his home driver already left" this implies that the station must be 1hour driving time from station"  is not correct.

We can't say that the station must be 1 hour drive from the station. Its possible that the driver started at 3 and it takes 2 hours for him to reach station.
