You can disconnect the report from the catalog to which it is attached by saving the report with a snapshot of the data. However you must reconnect to the catalog if you want to refresh the data.

snapshot is static datasource it is permanent local copy or picture of a report

it is suitable for disconnected networks. we can't add any columns to sanpshot. we can sort grouping and aggregations

it is mainly use for analyze the historical data

Snap shot is like a photo copy.
It is nothing but a permanent local copy of the data which is included in your report.

Snapshot is a fact table which describes about the state of things ina particular instance of time. It mainly involves semiadditive or nonadditive facts!
