You can disconnect the report from the catalog to which it is attached by saving the report with a snapshot of the data. However, you must reconnect to the catalog if you want to refresh the data.

snapshot is static datasource ,it is permanent local copy or picture of a report,

it is suitable for disconnected networks. we can't add any columns to sanpshot. we can sort,grouping and aggregations

it is mainly use for analyze the historical data

Snap shot is like a photo copy.
It is nothing but a permanent local copy of the data which is included in your report.

Snapshot is a fact table which describes about the state of things ina particular instance of time. It mainly involves semiadditive or nonadditive facts!
