Most dimension tables are designed using Normalization principles upto 2NF. In some instances they are further normalized to 3NF.

Figure out how to extract this data. 
 
Determine how to maintain changes to this dimension (see more on this in the next section). 
 
Change fact table and DW population routines.

Dimension table contain the textual descriptors of the business. In a well designed dimemsion model, dimension table has many columns or attributes. Fields that are discretely valued description that is more or less constant forms the dimension table attributes.Dimension table are the entry points in the fact table. Dimension table contains a primary key that is a foreign key in the fact table.
