There are multiple answers to this question. The initial answer would be 0 as it does not establish if he has ate the chocolate to get the wrappers. Another answer could be he has ate 49 as he has collected 49 wrapper and not yet received the other chocolate and another option would be 56 (49 + 7) that he would have received. And if he has only collected 49 wrappers without eating them it is possible it was only 7 but as it is unclear I would say that he has not ate any chocolates

Kid collected 49 wrappers, if shop gives free chocolate packed in the wrapper for each 7 wrappers, than he receives another 7 wrappers which may be again exchanged for one more wrapped chocolate. So in final 57 wrappers . But we do not know if he eat any chocoloate at all

First the kid presented 49 wrappers so he must have eaten 49 chocolates ... after presenting the 49 chocolates he got 7 chocolates in return... he ate them also... so he eats 56 chocolates (49+7)... no after giving these wrappers .. he gets another chocolate... so in total the kid eats 57 chocolates...

Kid eats 49 chocolate and submit wrappers to shop keeper so he got 7 more chocolate from shop (49+7=56)
still kid has 7 chocolate wrappers in his hand so when kid submit 7 wrappers to shopkeeper ..he will get one more chocolate ..
so finally kids eat total = 57 chocolates(49+7+1)

There is no way to know how many chocolates the kid actually ate. He could have collected the wrappers from the garbage can or from other customers. The question only states how many wrappers he collected; not how many chocolates he ate.

Assuming the kid ate them all, he couldve eaten 57. The operation starts at: ((49x-(7x))+1x and you must repeat this operation until you finally end up with 1x.
In other words, the kid starts eating 7x, and gets 1x for the 7 wrappers...so he doesnt end up with 42x the first time, he ends up with 43x.

The answer is 57-if he had all the chocolates..(49 wrappers-49 chocolates)
now he will get 7 chocolates(again he will have 7 wrappers..so he can have one more chocolate)-49+7+1=57
