How do you go about working in an area with which you have not worked before?

The main qualities that the business analyst should possess is "ADAPTABILITY" and "INTUTION TO KNOW" and "ANALYSIS" . His work remain almost similar in what ever the domain(retail,pharma,finance,IT,manufacturing etc) he works in.
When ever he walks in to a new domain he should have open mind to learn new things by observing, studying about the current process flow and system architecture.
Reading previous documentations which are held at the client's place, asking more open ended questions and getting the information from the key persons would really help him a lot

please educate me if I need to include some more in it
