Application Scalability
Is the application scalable in terms of software also. If yes then give an example for scalability

Yes scalibility is definitely alsi in temrs of software.example are  of websites like airlines ,railways where huge number of users hit everyday..so one day the organization wld have 2 decide thast as the number of users is increasing alarmingly we have to improve the aplication's ability to cope wiht such huge no of users. for that many things can be done ..the database structure may be improved by using better and clever procedures,,better indices ,better memory mgmt etc

Application scalability -Characteristics of the product under test related to the number of users the product can support. It is to  determine whether the product scales with the workload as the network grew in no. and complexity.These characteristics of a product under test may be related to user load, network , data capacity and/or other failure modes related to product's inability to scale beyond a particular level…

Hi Chinni,

Thanks for replying but what you've told is the definition of scalability and we generally associate scalability with the hardware configuration. What I wanted to know is that whether we can make the application scalable modifying only the software without modifying the hardware...?
