I think the answer should be 8000 miles per tyre... because the remaining 2000 miles you use the other tyre... and for 4 wheels the fifth tyre would have run 4*2000=8000 miles... thus the answer should be 8000 miles per tyre...

i think .. at the same time 4 tyres r running so total of their running is
10,000*4 = 40,000

but 5 tyres r equally used ,,,so 40,000/ 5 = 8000miles

Since 5 tyres used equally to travel 10000miles, each tyre is replaced after a minimum distance of 10000/5 which is 2000 miles....In the 10000 miles journey, each tyre is used 4 times, hence the total distance travelled by each tyre is 4*2000=8000miles

A simple explanation can be--
let tyre numbers be 1,2,3,4,5
1) use tyre 1234 for 0-2000 km
2) use tyre 1235 for 2000-4000 km
3) use tyre 1254 for 4000-6000 km
4) use tyre 1534 for 6000-8000 km
5) use tyre 5234 for 8000-10,000 km
As we can see each tyre gets to run 8000 km

Answer is 8000 because let us first assume care have run 8000 mile with 4 tyres then remaining 2000 by the fifth one mean that the fifth tyre should do the work of all the fore so its force or work done increases by 4 times so it also covers 8000 miles

The car is driven 10000 Kms but all four tyres run 40000 Kms collectively. Thus each tyre will run 10000 Kms not 4000 Kms as car is not running on single tyre.

Lets assume each Tyre sat idle for x kms
sum of total ideal kms of each tyre=total journey in kms
5x=10000;
each Tyre sat idle for 2000kms in 10000 km journey
so answer is 8000 kms each tyre

Ans is 8000...
(Total distance*Live tyre)/Total tyre...
(10000*4)/5=8000.

10000/5tyres =2000 in each run
first run tire no 1 ,2 ,3 ,4
second run tire no 2 ,3 ,4,5
third run tire no ,3 ,4,5,1
fiourth run tire no ,4,5,1,2
fifth run tire no 5,1 ,2 ,3
so each tire run 4 times
4*2000=8000
