Q: A system test that focuses on the software failing in a variety of ways and verifies that the software is able to continue execution without interruption. This is known as:

a) Recovery testing. In fact the question contains the classic definition of recovery testing.

Stress testing does focus on pushing the system beyond its normal operating capacity and often to its breaking point in order to determine how much it can handle. Yet even though the classic definition of recovery testing can loosely apply to stress testing I still consider a) to be the correct answer.
