Hi,I am trying to install quality center starter edition newer version (9.x) on Windows XP Pro. I had this "unable to connect to database errors...". Later I realized that its not compatible with SQL Server. I uninstalled SQL Server and installed MSDE. Same issues again......Does anyone have similar issues. Thanks,Suresh

Same thing happened to me too. Wrong Attributes An Error occurred while attempting to connect to the database. Please check that the database is available and that the given parameters are correct. Click Back to correct the database configuration variables.Yet to find the solution. Thanks

Finally I resolved this issue. I had to remove some entries in the registry, that's when it stopped asking me the DB parameters, and installed fresh copy of MSDB.

This will help you: http://clearinghouse4.fgdc.gov/enraemed/faq/all_html2.php?prog=enraemed&lang=en

You do not need to modify registry directly, just uninstall msde from add-remove programs and you do NOT even need to restart the machine after uninstalling.  msde will be installed by qc installer itself.
