something wrong with the question, it didn't mention that each grade must be assigned to each student

for example: two people can share the same grade, like Jack: A and Jean A (this statement won't work but just for an example)

ANS :

JACK : C

Jean   : A

Poul    : D

Lucy   : B

Since, Jack dint get A, Lucy dint get D

Since, Lucy dint get C, Jack dint get D

Jack's grade is better then Poul

Since Jean got A, Jack dint get A

Since, Jack dint get A Jean dint get B, Lucy got B, Poul got D

One concept is all the statements are true.

So try giving those grades which does not have condition.

so give

Jack:B

Jean:D

Poul:C

Lucky:A

now read all the statements all are true.

according to 1) if JACK = A then LUCY = B if it is the caseaccording to 2) if LUCY = C then JACK = D this can also be possible 3) Now accrding to stmt that grade of JACK > PAUL, case 2) should never be true otherwise JACK > PAUL will prove falseaccording to 3) let us assume that JACK & JEAN SHARE THE SAME GRADE A , as stated and as it does not make any other stmts falseafter stmt 3 the case will look like this. A B C D JACK - - LUCY & JEANNow moving to 4) case this condition should not be true in any case, since its truth will cause no harm to stmt 3) but will definately cause LUCY to get grade C, and will make stmt 2) to be true and will contradict the case of JACK's grade being greater than PAUL. So in order to sustain trutfullnes of 2 and 3 we have to make slight modification in the arrangement of JACK & JEAN , without contradicting 1,2,and 3, and this is possible if the arrangement is made like this. A B C D LUCY JACK PAUL JEAN
