it must be done as follows,

subtract the two i,e; 36n40w-18n40w=18

now multiply 18 with 4 = 72min = 72/60hr

now we must add or subtract  this 72/60hr to 2p.m to get the ans. i dont remember exactly whether to add or subtract.

Hi,

Answer is 6:40

As difference betweenn longitude is of 80 degree.

For 1 degree there is difference of 4 min

so for 80 deg, diff is of 320 mins=4:40hrs

add 10hrs to 4.40

and then add this to 2:00Am

U will get 6:40 am

hi arpit, the answer is simple go through basic steps::::see u have to calculate the local time at destination when flight takes off.........so.........1)find out the difference of longitude........see remember one thing whenever such time difference problem are asked then we have to consider east-west longitudesso here difference is 40E - (-40W)=80 deg2)1 deg is equal to 4 minstherefore 80 deg=4 * 80=320 mins = 5 hr 20 mins3) to get local time at dest when flight leavesalso while moving from east longitude to west subtract time and vice-versaso in our case the formes cond. is applicable so subtract 5 hrs 20 min frm 2 pm.so it turns out to be 8.40 a.m4)finally add 10 hrs to time calc in previous step as it takes 10 hrs to reach detinationso answer is 6.40 pm

This type of question are really very easy

Take the difference in angle change from east to west,
let us suppose the angle is 80 degree.
Multiply it by 4. we get 320, that is in minutes.
Convert it into hour, its 5 : 20 min.
then subtract it from given time in question.
such as 10 hr-5:20, we get 4:40 min..
Add it to the given starting time.
Final will be the ans.

While going from East to West we consider longitude in East West and not North South.
180-(10+70)=100 deg
100deg=400min=40/3hr
