dear friend
SCR has many uses in the field of electronics, namely it can be used for varied purposes from filtering, rectifying to high power switching.
it is also used in soft starters for motors and in choppers.
apart from these scr has many other uses in power electronics.

SCR is a rectifier, we use this in power handling applications .
By varying on time and off time of the scr i.e by giving the pulse to its gate, we can vary the average out put power from the main power supply to the required device.
software part
we can use microcontroller and write a programme so that to generaterequired pulses to control the SCR.

An SCR can bridge the gap of an opened circuit in a series of loads, say for example LEDs in series. An SCR can also provide power control by turning off part of an AC cycle.
