Two people work together in 24 mins.

So, their one day work is

(1/A)+(1+B)=(1/24)

One man can complete the work in 40mins

one man's one day work (1/B)= (1/40)

Now,

(1/A)=(1/24)-(1/40)

(1/A)=(1/60)

So, A can complete the work in 60 mins.

Let us consider 2 people A and B

A and B work together and complete in 24 mins

(1/A)+(1/B) = (1/24) ====> their one day's work

A alone can do the work in 40 mins

(1/A)=(1/40)  ====> A's one day work

So, (1/B) = (1/24)-(1/40)

(1/B) = (1/60)

So, B can complete the work in 60 mins.

A can finish the work in 24min then in 1 min he does 1/24th of the total work

therefore 1/24--->1min then 1/40--->?

    (1/40*1)/1/24==24/40=>60min

60 min. Suppose the amount of work to be done is x.
And two people are A and B.
If A in 40 min can do x work.
then A in 24 min will do 24x/40 work(Unitary method).
the work done by B in 24 min is x-(24x/40)=16x/40.
again apply same metod-
If B does 16x/40 work in 24 minthen B will do x work in 24x/(16x/40)=60 min
