The design procedure of PCA is based on information obtained from
different sources, including research, theoretical developments, testsfull-scale pavement, and monitoring the performance of pavements in service.

The structural properties of soil-cement depend on soil type,
curing conditions, and age. Typical ranges for a variety of types
soil-cement to cement their content required for
durability, are:

Property Values to 28 days
Compressive strength, saturated 400-900 psi
Modulus of rupture 80-180 psi
Modulus (static bending modulus) 600,000 - 2,000,000 psi
Poisson ratio of 0.12 to 0.141
Radius of curvature crítico2
In beam 6 x 6 x 30 in. 4.000 to 7.500 in.

The factors analyzed to determine the thickness of design are:
1. Floor resistance.
2. Period pavement design.
3. Traffic, including volume and distribution of axle loads (settings
single and tandem loads, conventional trucks) axes.
4. Thickness of the base layer soil-cement.
5. Thickness of bituminous surface layer.
