How to add running totals in Report Studio

Hi All,
I am using cognos report sudio 8.4. I have got a problem in adding each cell to its next cell data (means running total not addition two cells).
I tried with available report studio functions like running_total, Moving_total. I got errors.
I am automating excel reports into cognos report studio. Converting sum(previous cell + current cell) function in excel to report studio.
please help me to overcome this problem.

On field explorer, you find running totals. Right click on it and add running total. Asks to enter name, selection operation as sum. Then you find three sections. Whether to sum the column on each record or after particular group. Select the group and click ok. Drag the running total object to report.
