i didnt understand the question. First, a union transformation is active transformation which is used to combine data from multiple sources into single target. This union transformation supports union all function and should have same metadata. This can be divided into 2 groups
1) Input Group
2)Output Group

input group receives data from source, output group sends data for further processing.

What do you exactly mean by the functions used. if i am not wrong union all function where it takes everything including duplicates.

Union Transformation works like as Union All in SQl and in this transformation we cant use any external functions like avaliable in expersion editor means which is specially designed for joining the records vertically.
