The difference is shows the name itself
P-proportional control
PI- proportional with integral control
PID-proportional with integral and dervitave control

The difference lies in the action of the controllers
pd-helps in achieving steady state conditions quickly.
pi-helps in reducing steady state error
pid-helps in reducing sready state eror and also getting steady state conditions quickly
