Tracebility matrix is a document and business decision made by protect stakeholder.
I used tracebility by relating the aspects of project artifacts to one another the RUP product includes tool mentor for working with rational requisite pro a requirement tracebility tool.

Tracebilty matrix helps you audit the life of the requirement.

This can be done using any of the Requirement MANAGEMENT Tools like DOORS Req Pro etc
