we can have as many no. of repositories, but the only bottle neck is that there should be different databases for each repository

Aggregate awareness is the method in Business Objects while creating measures in the universe, it is process where you define the aggregation strategy which you wanted BO to follow, useful mostly for Drill downs based on different dimentions

Query hints are used in RDBS concept, when you write SQLs in pervious days developer use give hint points while writing the query for DB engine, they are called rule based DB, now the rule based DB is fading out in the market, these days youwill find all new DBs as cost based
