Cardinality:cardinality is used to maintain the relationship between the tables.Most of the times cardinality between dimension table and fact table is always 1:N. If we are not specified cardinality between the tables

some times it will give the cartician product result(means incorrect result),and here one most important thing is cardinality detection must when we have loops occured in universe structure pane while designing the univeser

If the cardinality is not specified then you will not get the incorrect result. The purpose of setting the cardinality is only to detect context and alias while using auto detect feature. If the cardinality is not set and contexts and aliases are properly mentioned then you will get the correct result.

Everything will work just fine if we don't define the cardinality.
but if you define there will be added advantages like:
1) Auto detect function will work that detect the cardinality thud will help in detection of loops.
2) No error messages while integrity check which is done after setting the aggregate awareness.
3) Good universe designing practice as it will prevent confusion to a new user while he is editing the universe.

Cardinality is more important in the universe other wise its give more data when traps are exist in the universe if loops are there in the universe its gives less data but our requirement is to give accurate data what client is expected so we have to take care while giving cardinal in the universe.
