Hello Everybody,HIndu = 285TOI = 127IE = 212now H nd TOI both is = 20(Draw a Venn Diagram nd check all) . TOI nd IE both is = 35H nd IE both is = 29now suppose H , TOI nd IE all is = x ;so,only Hindu is = 285-20-29-x = 236-x ;only TOI is = 127-20-35-x = 72-x ;only IE is = 212-35-29-x = 148-x ;now, 236-x + 72-x + 148-x + 20 + 29 + 35 + x + 50 = 500 590 -2x = 500 so, x = 45this is the value who read all the 3 dailies.so,result is = 236-45 + 72-45 + 148-45 = 191 + 27 + 103 = 321.this is the final result...you all plz check it...this answer is based on Venn Diagram.Thanks nd all the bestChandan Sinha

RE: In town of 500 people, 285 read Hindu and 212 read...

The values are not right. The formula is

n(A U B U C) n(A) + n(B) + n(C) - n(A n B) - n (A n C) - n(B n C) + n (A n B n C).

When we substitute the values in this we get

450 285 + 212 + 127 - 20 - 29 - 35 + x

450 540 + x

which is impossible.......please check back with the values.

RE: In town of 500 people, 285 read Hindu and 212 read...
Ans : 366

Just add how many persons read two papers (20+29+34)

and in 500 peoples 50 persons didnt read any news papers
so just deduct from 500 (hence 450 peoples only read news papers in that town)

finally deduct the no. of persons read two papers from 450 is the answer(i.e. 366)

ans is 366 since there are 500 people in which do like this

add all those who study both news paper 20+29+35 84
then 50 people dont read newspaper so 84+50 134
