Contracts are mutual agreements between the client and the customer, where as scheduling in a plan for processing

Basically Contract and Scheduling Agreement is long term procurement deal with vendor.

Its a legal bonding for the both - Customer and Vendor.

Contract - Contract is created with vendor for specified validity period,
Material details, Total quantity required or Total value of the material that
will procured from? vendor. Finalized rate with the vendor and other
applicable terms and conditions are maintained in the contract.

In SAP, Contract is created by Transaction Code - ME31K

Contract has two types in SAP -

1] Quantity Contract

2] Value Contracts

As and when material is required, Purchase order or contract release order?
is to be created with the reference or against Contract Number.

Goods receipt and Invoice receipt will be posted with PO reference.

Scheduling Agreement -

In scheduling Agreement we can maintain the detailed schedule lines. Which
explains, Material details, material required quantity, Date of requirement,
Which we cant mention in contracts.

Contract and Scheduling agreement both are outline agreements. In contract 2 types of contracts are there. Value and Quantity contract, in Value contract you agree with the customer for certain value. While in the quantity contract you agree with the quantity e.g. 20000 pcs/amount. Contact does not have the time period for delivering the goods it is given through the release order. While with the scheduling agreement we agree with the customer to deliver the goods on the particular time for e.g. 7.8.2012 20000 pcs is given to customer.
