How to read error messages in /var/adm/messages when system is not booting?

When the host is not able to boot , you basically cannot connect to the console. So you can view the messages or any other files.

The only alternate is that you can boot ur system with old unix vmunix.old file and see the messages.

Let me know if you need more clarification n this.

Hi Raghu, Please let me know where i can find vmunix.old file,  i have another option: Boot system in Diagnostic mode and connect serial port A to console with null modem cable, then we can able to see the error messages on the console which is connected with serial port-A.

If OS can't boot into multi-user level, I can try to boot the OS into single-user level.
If I can't boot into single-user level, I wouldn't read the messages in /var/adm/messages.
