When you run a script, you find and generate a defect report. In other words, every defect report is unique to a single test script.

Using the 'Associate Defect' option in Test Director you can map the same defect 'n' number of test cases. While you are executing the test case or script and it fails then map the defect either by creating a new defect or using the Associate Defect by associating the already existing defect in the data base
