we can use vss or clear case to keep the build versions or software developed by programers with unique number to distinguish old and new versions.

VSS:Visual sourse safe from Micro soft.

Clear Case from IBM.

we use Cofiguration tools or build controls like vss or clear case to keep track or store the  builds or software developed by programmers with unique name or number to distinguish difference between old and new versions.

Clear Case:product of IBM.
