We have tried QTP from HP and RFT from IBM. Both can launch SQL and you can script around doing the result compares but it is not easy. we now use QuerySurge.

We can use Data Validation option DVO provided by informatica corporation to automate etl testing.

Datagaps ETL Validator has a lot of inbuilt features for ETL Testing automation. We are using it.
