The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) the first capability maturity model a way to develop and refine an organization's processes. The first CMM was for the purpose of developing and refining software development processes.
There are 18 KPAs in CMM model intially. The Capability Maturity Model for Software has been retired and CMMI replaces it. The SEI no longer maintains the SW-CMM model its associated appraisal methods or training materials nor does the SEI offer SW-CMM training.
