when each test cases are diffrent & resourses are less(people,systems.time) & when we have to cover each line of code,

if date base is someware else & to do performance & load Testing then we need to go for automated tersting.

These are the Points for choosing automation

- The Project should be long term

- The Application should be Stable

- If the Project face more regression test,then automation will be helpful,by ramping down the resources.

There are so many factors which decide automation,

(1) If application needs very regrous testing

(2) Make sure that atleast 40% test cases can be covered through automation

(3) Make sure that we dont get the frequent CRs, otherwise everytime scripts need to be modified

(4) Availavility of skilled resources

to decide when to use automation testing method there are certain criteria that have to be taken into account1. to test the software repeatedly2.to do unattended testing.3.when the software has to be tested in different environments and also to reduce the labour.4.when multiple users need to be simulated.5.to plan and manage the testing process effectively.6.to generate test reports automatically.7.to improve the quality of the software.8. to reduce the time,cost and effort drastically.9.to follow a systematic approach to the software.
