vaibhav that was a good reply but as far as knowledge goes, Pay Cycle is the period between two dates..ie Paystart date and Payend.

I mean an employee gets his after the end of evry pay cycle. For eg in INdia our paycycle is a month, in US biweekly.

A payroll process has to be run at the end of every paycycle to generate the payroll for the employees.

To be precise & direct, Pay Cycle is one of the methods of making payments (to Vendors) in the Accounts Payable (AP) module of PeopleSoft Financials.
To run a Pay Cycle, you need to specify 'Payment Selection Criteria' - a criteria, based on which AP Vouchers would be picked by the Pay Cycle. The Criteria includes Payment Dates (From Date, To Date), Business Unit, Payment Bank, etc. Once the 'Payment Selection Criteria' is set, the Paycycle is ready to be run. Now comes the role of the 'Pay Cycle Manager' to run the Pay Cycle.
Pay Cycle Manager gives options to the end user to operate / run / execute the pay cycle. Here the 2 important processes are (a) Payment Selection, and (b) Payment Selection & Creation. In addition, the user can run Trial Register Report, Print & Re-print Checks. There is also an important utility (Reference Confirmation) to keep a track of the Check Numbers (Generated by the system & the ones on the pre-printed bank stationery) so that they are in sync always.
