 An audit programme ahould be a very structured one (given the constraint of time). You should know the business process of the client very well & should know about the places which you should be checking.

Suppose if you are going for a Cost-Audit you should check the cost allocation structure of the Company & should check the Overhead allocation base sheet.

I have conducted audits ranging from proprietory firm, partnership firm, companies, trust, banks etc. Requirements of audit differ from entity to entity and scope defined by management and statute. In case of internal audit the scope of audit is fixed in consultation with managment and in case of statutory audit the scope is defined by the statute.
