Power generated in the generator is active power or apparent power? Will there be any phase lag while generating power? How the reactive power is produced (either by capacitor or the generator itself generate it) ?

Generally generator will produce both active and reactive power because of shaft power and exitation. Reactive power is used to drive the active power.

Generated supply of an Alternator consists of both Active and Reactive of components.Reactive power is loss component which doing nothing travels to and fro.
