Principle:Air friction is very much less than friction between two solid surfaces..

Hover crafts have big fans under its basement facing the ground, these fans are rotated at a very high speed which pushes the ground or water and rises slightly above the ground,creating a gap of air between its basment and  ground or water ,this gap is very small ,so when hover crafts are given motion it faces very small friction becuase  there is only air gap between its basment and ground surface so it gains a very high speed and acceleration.
