According to my Knowledge,
Report bursting concept comes in BO6.5. In XIR2, we use Profiles and Publications which interms called as Report Bursting (in 6.X)

To say in brief, we need to create a PROFILES for the users to burst the report based in his/her own data. We need to set the Profile Values and Profile Targets.

In this, profile valus is manditory.  If we set the Profile target then we can use the Local Profile in the Personlization tab of the Publication. Else we need to use the Global Profile.

Then need to create a PUBLICATION based on Enterprise Receipents(users in the repository or internal users) or Dynamic Receipients (users outside of the repository or external users).

Then we need to personalize the data, 
If the report is a Crystal, then we need to set the fields in the personilation(plz chk the admin guide)
If the report is webi or deski, we need to select Global or Local profiles(explained above) based on the requirement.
Set the format and destination as per ur requirement.

After we create a publication just schedule it.
