Transport layer is used for grouping all the development objects that will always use the same transport routes within the same development system. Transport layer is assigned to all the objects that come from a specified development system.

Development class acts as a way to group together objects belonging to the same development project. Only objects with an appropriate development class can be transported to other system.

TL is a central concept for TMS and is a requirement to create a TL before any development project can start

DC starting with Y or Z must be defined, to be able to transport development objects.

Development Objects are assigned to a valid Development class and Development class is assigned to a Transport Layer. Transport layer specifies the path to move the transport objects between the systems.
